about
A short song about growing old, and about how in a single life, we went from single-shot muskets to nuclear weapons.
lyrics
Old mister Jones was a hundred years old in 1954
He remembered the day his daddy marched away to fight in the civil war.
He lived to see the days of flying machines, missiles and the atom bomb
But his daddy was killed in Chancellorville by a single-shot musket ball.
It’s a shame, …..... nothing changes, it’s still the same.
Sometimes I think about old Mr. Jones and wonder what was on his mind
telling his tales to a wide-eyed kid about life in a different time.
Some times he'd talk about a long time ago and some times he’d talk about today.
Sometimes he didn’t say anything at all, he just kind of drifted away.
It’s a shame, nothing changes, it’s still the same.
Old mister jones was a hundred years old in 1954
He remembered the day his daddy marched away to fight in the civil war.
Sometimes I think about World War 2, Iraq and Vietnam
Everybody said it was going to get better won’t somebody tell me what went wrong.
